Happy St. Brigid's Day:  2021

This is usually a very busy time of the year for us in Creagh National School. We have a proud tradition of supporting the Ballinasloe Social Services through the making and selling of St. Brigid's Crosses. Miss Power, Miss Blade and Anthony Blade have championed this wonderful partnership and their enthusiasm has enabled  the school to raise thousands of euro for this worthy cause. They have also  educated the wider school community regarding St Brigid and the many customs and traditions associated with her. While we are not in a position to be physically present this year, Miss Power has generously shared two videos with us to help us celebrate virtually. The first video shows the collection of rushes (a key ingredient for cross making) while the second video describes how to make a cross. Please click on the vidoes below to watch. A huge thanks to all who support this annual endeavour and to Miss Power for sharing these tutorials. Enjoy!!!
While  visiting your local shop, you might chance upon one of the crosses that have been donated to help welcome in Spring 2021!
