Happy Easter to all our school community

Creagh National School will close today for the Easter break. There will be a staggered home time to ensure that congregation at the school gates is reduced.
  • Junior and Senior Infants will go home at 12:15pm.
  • 1st to 6th class will depart at 12:30 pm.
We expect to re-open again on April the 12th for all classes.
There has been a very happy and welcoming vibe all-round the buildings and grounds since the classes returned to in-class teaching. We request that all families comply with level 5 restrictions over the two week break so that we are assured of continuing to work in a face to face capacity after Easter.
Thanks as always to pupils, parents, board, staff and community for your continued support.

19/3/2021

The school has been advised that a child who attends Creagh National School has tested positive for Covid-19 on the 18th of March. The children who are close contacts have already been informed by the school or the HSE.
Close contacts will have to follow the procedures outlined to them by the HSE. It won't be too long until they are all back at school again and we look forward to their return.
School life will remain the same for the rest of the children in the school. We will continue to follow our prococols and procedures to prevent the spread of the virus. We are confident that these measures are robust and effective and appreciate your continued co-operation with them. We will be certain to continue promoting the happiness and wellbeing of all members of our school community through this unusual time.
If you have any concerns or worries regarding this issue, contact the school at 0909642634 (from Monday - Friday) or [email protected].
Please find below a leaflet published by the HSE with advice on what to do if your child is identified as a close contact.

A huge thanks to all our parents for co-operating so well with our requests to date.
We are determined to remain a safe and happy learning environment.
As a team, we are succeeding well but we need to keep up our efforts.
We are all really looking forward to seeing our older pupils again on Monday morning. There are just a few changes so that we can all stay safe. Please remember the following:
  • No congregating at the school gates. (Drop and leave)
  • Parents/ guardians must wear a mask/ face covering when dropping off or collecting children from the school.
  • Gates will open for older pupils at 9:10 am. Please do not arrive before this time.
  • Children will line up in a distanced manner in their areas every morning.
  • The Parental Declaration form will need to be filled in after every absence.
  • Children should not be having play dates with other children outside their family bubbles.
  • Windows will be open so wear layers!
  • Please do not send in hand sanitiser with your child unless there is a medical reason to do so. (Teacher will need to be informed in writing)
  • There is no demand for children in primary school to wear masks but they may do so if parents wish.

Many thanks to all those parents who have already filled in the Parental Declaration Form. These will have to be completed by parents  after every absence. This is to ensure that we will be able to stay open, and we are positive that parents, children and staff all share this objective.  If you have not yet completed it, please do so now at this link.

Information Regarding the re-opening for 3rd - 6th class can be found on our Frequently Asked Questions Page. Please click on the image to read.

Statement from tuam bishops regarding the celebration of sacraments.

3/3/2021

The following guidance regarding the celebrations of first Holy Communion and Confirmation havs been issued in the form of a  Pastoral Message from the Bishops of the Six Dioceses of the Tuam Province.

''In so far as the Government plan currently offers no clarity about when we might expect to return to public Sacramental life, we find it difficult to have any confidence that the Sacraments of First Communion and Confirmation can be celebrated before the end of the present school year. As of now, we have decided to defer the Sacrament of Confirmation for the 2021 class until the Autumn, and we encourage our parishes to consider doing the same in relation to First Holy Communion. Should the circumstances change for the better, this decision can be revisited in each Diocese. In the meantime, we encourage young people and their parents to continue with their preparation. We have provided online resources to support what is being done through the Religious Education programme with the teachers in the schools.''

Reminder: These items are for home use only.
School principal, Mr Noel Lohan collected a sizeable donation of individual care packs for every pupil in the school from local Centra, Dolans during the week.
These packs contain a mask, a hand cleanser and a packet of wipes. We will be distibuting one of these pasks to each of our Junior children on Friday.  Many thanks to Dolans, and in particular to Mike and Chris who are both past pupils,  for their generosity.

We were delighted to welcome back all our Junior classes today. From Junior Infants to Second Class, there were smiles all round this morning as we opened our doors for the first time this term. We are very proud of how well all our children settled back into the school routines after such a long spell of remote learning. Thanks to all the staff who worked so hard to ensure that the transition was seamless. Thanks also to parents/ guardians who followed all our protocols so perfectly.
The gates are open for Infant classes at 9:15 am and for 1/2nd classes at 9:10 am.
See you all again tomorrow!
