It has come to our attention that there is some misinformation with regard to the staggered start for infant classes and the length of time that this arrangement will last for.
It is intended that the later start for infant classes, that has been carefully considered as a necessary arrangement until children get used to new routines, is a temporary measure.  It is hoped that the school will revert to a common entry time for all classes as soon as infant children are comfortable enough to move quickly into classrooms with little need for parental assistance or company. The speed at which this occurs will depend largely on the co-operation of our parents in putting these routines and practices in place. This will also depend on H.S.E. and D.E.S. advice with regard to Covid-19.

We have been made aware of supply difficulties that the vendor is having currently with some sizes of the Creagh School Jumper. Some sizes will not be available until the middle of September. These difficulties are unavoidable.
If you are unable to source a school jumper for your child, you may of course use a substitute jumper of your own until the stocks are replenished. Or you may prefer to omit a jumper altogether.... weather permitting. There should be no difficulties with accessing  other items of the    school uniform.

This plan has been drawn up collaboratively by a team consisting of senior and middle management, the chairperson of the board, the chairperson of the Parent's association and the school caretaker. Please forward any contributions and suggestions to this plan by Friday the 14th so that they can be considered before the plan is ratified by the board. This is a 'live' document and as such may be amended/ changed / updated as needs arise or guidance/ advice changes. Updates will be published on the school website. 
Please note that it has been considered necessary to stagger opening times initially in order to cater for establishing routines given our large numbers and limited gates. (400 + pupils/ 4 gates)

• The new Infant day will be from 09:40 am - 2:20 pm. 
• New Junior Infants will attend school from 9:40 - 12:20 for the first 2 weeks.
• All other classes will run from 9:20 am- 3:00 pm

The D.E.S. have today published advice to primary schools on the wearing of face coverings in a primary school setting. Click on the image to read the document. The key points are as follows:

• Children in Primary Schools should not wear masks.
  
• Teachers and staff in primary schools should wear a face-covering when a physical distance of 2 meters from other staff or children cannot be maintained.
• In certain situations the use of clear visors should be considered, for example staff interacting with students with hearing difficulties or learning difficulties.
  
• The school should ensure that any P.P.E. requirements for staff, as required under the Roadmap, public health advice and COVID-19 Response Plan, is readily available for staff. 
• Schools should consider the specific circumstances where the use of medical face masks, to EU Standard EN 14683, may be more appropriate for staff.
  
• The Department will  provide posters to schools outlining signs and symptoms of COVID-19 and to support good hand and respiratory hygiene. 
• Funding has been provided for schools to install and use hand sanitisers for each classroom, specialist rooms and other key locations (entry/exit points, staff room etc.) in their school.
