End of Year Message from Mrs. Bleahene

To the school community of S.N. Muire Gan Smál: Creagh N.S.
The 2021-2022 school year will be remembered for lots of landmarks and milestones. It was the year that playgrounds were segregated, meetings were held remotely, children were asked to wear masks and everyone finally got Covid. It was also a year of tremendous educational innovation,  a year that we placed a huge emphasis back on relationships and communication and the year that we also started to regain all the freedoms that had been curtailed due to an un-precedented pandemic.
In Creagh National School, we have the fine privilege of a combination consisting of hard working pupils, dedicated staff and a collaborative/co-operative parent body. It is this spirit of united effort and shared vision that has allowed us to navigate our way so successfully through these challenging times.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank most sincerely all those who have worked so hard over the past year. It is because of these massive efforts that the Children in Creagh National School are benefitting from exceptional teaching and learning experiences, supported 100% by their families and the wider community.  Every vital part of the operation, from the Board of Management, to the In-School Management Team; the Parent's Association to the Student council are motivated by the common purpose of finding and delivering the best possible outcomes for our student body.
Ms Conway and Ms Dolan are taking a break away from us next year. We wish them well and hope to have them back here with us again soon.
I am privileged to be in the position of leading this fine school for the next academic year and look forward to your continuing support.
Best wishes to our sixth class who graduated on Wednesday the 29th. They leave us prepared and ready for the next step on their journey.
Have a terrific summer, everyone.
See you all again on September the 1st.
Kind Regards,
Áine NÍ Cholleráin Bleahene (Acting Principal)

On Wednesday the 29th of June 2020, we celebrated our first live  graduation in two years..... and it really was terrific to be able to celebrate the occasion together in person. Many thanks to Fr Garvey for our lovely graduation mass. Thanks also to  Ms Gallagher, Mr O' Rourke, Mr Barrett and the 4th and 5th class choir for the lovely singing. Thanks to the Parents Association for catering the teas and coffees and thanks to so many parents for attending our celebration in the school hall.
Sixth class have been taught by a terrific team of enthusiastic, talented and dedicated teachers throughout their school careers in Creagh School and there is no doubt that they have gleaned great benefit from each and every one of the staff they have encountered. In their final year, they were taught by Mr. Geraghty and Mr. Ronaldson. It has been a terrific year and they are now definitely ready to move onto their next adventure,
Thank you to all the staff who have had such a powerful influence on these wonderful young men and women and a special thanks to Mark and Liam for guiding them along the last furlong.
This year's sixth class are leaving behind them a legacy of kindness, friendship, co-operation and respect. We will miss their smiling cheerful presence in the school next year. We know that they all have great potential to shine brightly and wish them all every happiness and success in the road ahead.

On Tuesday the 28th of June, we had planned to stage our annual Talent Show outdoors. Eddie and his 6th class crew of helpers (Thank you, Mr Geraghty's Class) created an outdoor auditorium in the Astroturf pitch..... and then it began to rain!
Eventually the sun came out again and we were treated to a feast of talent from children all over the school.
A huge thanks to Ms Lohan for her terrific efforts and planning in advance of the day.
Well done to all the wonderful boys and girls who shared their talents. We are looking forward to next year already!

Past pupil of Creagh National School and International Soccer Superstar, Heather Payne, visited Creagh National School on the 14th of June and presented us with our 4th Active School Flag.
Heather gave us an inspirational talk about how we can all achieve our dreams with determination and hard work. She answered questions from the Active School Committee and then spent a generous amount of time signing autographs and chatting to the children.
Thank you so much Heather, for giving up some of your precious free time to visit us. Please come back and see us again. We are so proud of you,,,,, you are always welcome.

Ms Blade and 4th Class had a real treat in store for all the younger classes in the school, when they turned the school grounds into a 'funtastic' driving sensation for a range of bikes, scooters, tractors and diggers. There were roadways, obstacle tracks, speed zones and traffic lights. It was a really fabulouis occasion for the children involved. A huge thanks to Ms Blade and Eddie Brady for all the massive efforts in preparation for the event. thanks also to Barry's Cycle shop who lent the school some additional four wheelers for the day.
