There was a great turn out for the initial planning meeting of the Ballinalsoe Parent Power Pilot project and the parents from Creagh National School were particularly well represented.
On the night there was a presentation from the organisers followed by the opportunity for parents to chat in small group in order to identify possible topics for further exploration. We are very much looking forward to engaging again with this project in the new school year and urge those present to pass on the word. Please click on the image to access the presentation PowerPoint which the organisers have very kindly passed onto us.

5th & 6th class children proudly display their certificates after completing a 4 week coding course facilitated by Corrib Computer Training. The course was presented to the children, very successfully, via Zoom. During the four weeks the children worked on projects using Scratch, Microbit, Microsoft MakeCode and MakeCode Arcade. Well done all and thanks to Corrib Computer Training for introducing the children to the world of Coding.
Thanks also to our ICT co-ordinator Miss Power for organising this brilliant opportunity for the children and to to the 5th and 6th class teachers for facilitating the classes so enthusiastically.

What a fantastic week of fun, fitness and activities! The whole school really enjoyed this year’s Active School Week and the photos just prove it!! From Junior Infants all the way up to Sixth Class everyone got involved, even the teachers!
All week long there were so many activities from Creagh Olympics 2021, Fitness Monopoly, Run Around Ireland, Active Walkway, Busy Breaks, Go Noodle, Teacher Vs Student challenges, Active Homework and much more!
I think it’s fair to say all the children and teachers definitely got their 60 minutes of exercise every day. We will continue to be as active as we can right up until the Summer holidays.
Well done to everyone!
A huge thanks to Ms Conway who put so much effort into making this week such a fantastic success!!

Update on the celebration of sacraments for 2021 in The Clonfert Diocese

5/5/2021

The following message has been forwarded by the Diocese regarding an Update on the Celebration of the Sacraments of Confirmation, First Confession and First Holy Communion 2021 (and 2020) in the Diocese of Clonfert .

Picture
''As previously communicated the Sacrament of Confirmation for 2021 will be celebrated at the  end of September/ October 2021. The Diocesan Office will publish a full schedule of Confirmation ceremonies in July 2021. This week we will be sending enrolment forms to Schools for Confirmation Candidates 2021 with a request to return them to the Parish Priest of the Church where the ceremony is to take place.
For 2020 candidates who have yet to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation, it is hoped that their Confirmation ceremony may be scheduled at parish level and celebrated by their local priest as soon as it is considered safe to do so.
It is strongly advised that parishes defer the celebration of First Confession and First Holy Communion 2021 until Autumn 2021. For 2020 candidates who have yet to celebrate First Confession and First Holy Communion, it is hoped that this may be scheduled at parish level as soon as it is safe to do so.
In early September an online revision course in preparation for the celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation, First Confession and First Holy Communion will be made available.
We are continuing to pray for all those who continue to wait patiently to celebrate these sacraments and their parents at this difficult time for everyone.''
