Music at Home Week 2020
The activities for this thematic week consist of contributions from teachers, past and present and a past pupil also. There are activities from all strands of the music curriculum.
These tasks are presented in the format of video tutorials. If you didn't get a chance to try these out yet, why not choose a task from the 5 activities attached below, tune into the inspiring step by step tutorials and get musical! (And once more a sincere thanks to Ms Carey, Ms Lohan, Ms Connaughton, Mrs. Bleahene, Megan Kelly and Johnny Johnston for sharing all their amazing efforts throughout the week) You can always share your creativity with us on both your class platforms or email them directly to [email protected]. The compilation of children's contributions is currently under construction.
Rhythm with Miss CareyOur first activity for Music At Home Week is great fun!! All you need to do perfect this new skill is a plastic cup, Miss Carey's tutorial and practice! The song is called Firefly by Owl City. So tune in, grab your cup and lets get some rhythm! Thanks to Miss Carey for the fantastic video tutorial!

Dance with Ms LohanMs Lohan has created a terrific video dance tutorial for us based on Dance Monkey (Tones and I) It's like tictok only way better! A huge thanks to Ms Lohan for creating this to share with us all. Now get your dancing shoes on and start moving!!

Listen with Mrs BleaheneLots of modern day musicians are inspired by music that was composed a long time ago. Mrs Bleahene shares her favourite piece of classical music with you and shows how something composed over 300 years old is being re-imagined for today's audience.

Sing Along to Peace Proms 2020One of the best highlights of 2020 was the participation of our 5th and 6th classes in Peace Proms. We were all very proud of them on the night Sing along to excerpts from the pop medley and join with the actions too in the first video clip... you might even get to see some familiar faces/backs at the end!!

Make a xylophone and play a tune with Ms ConnaughtonMiss Connaughton has created a terrific tutorial video for us all about creating music using the science of sound to make a homemade xylophone.
Learn how to make the instrument, try and identify some mystery tunes and then practice playing tunes of your own. |

We are very grateful to Mr Johnny Johnston; retired Deputy Principal; and Megan Kelly; past pupil,; for sharing their talents with us for our Music at Home week.
A song from Johnny.Recorded and sent into us by past Deputy Principal and much regarded friend to the school: Mr Johnny Johnston, this lovely song is filmed in 'Dún na Sí, Gleanntaí..... a common stop along many school nature walks and field trips. Not to be missed by either child or parent, this is a real gem!

Megan Kelly Plays I Giorni (Einaudi)We have a wealth of talented past pupils and we are very grateful that Megan Kelly has taken time out from her studies to record one of her favourite pieces for us. The best of good wishes to all Leaving Cert and Junior Cert pupils during this stressful time.
